but a snowstorm moved our service online that Sunday, so Chris B has invited Peter back in person).
Feb.15 – Bishop Victor-David Mbuyi Bipungu
Feb.22 – Selene Lau
Mar.1 – Chris Barrigar
THIS SUNDAY, FEB.8 – QUEST LUNCH
CMP members in their 20s and 30s are invited for lunch together at a nearby restaurant after the service. For more information, contact Chris: chris@stmarkstpeter.org.
WED. FEB.11 – “GOING FORWARD” ZOOM MEETING, 8pm
If you have questions about the process going forward to select Chris’s successor, feel free to ask any of Heather Purdie on a Sunday, or join this meeting to ask your questions. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87599477555
TUES. FEB.17 – “HALLELUJAH TUESDAY” PANCAKE SUPPER
There is an ancient Christian tradition of joining together for a celebratory meal before the spiritual disciplines of Lent begin.
Join us at 6pm in the Church Hall for a pancake dinner, put on by the CMP youth! We do need to know numbers beforehand, so please take 2 mins to fill out this form, https://forms.gle/CWneRPtoQSEwQd399, to let us know.
Cost 5$ per person.
SUN. FEB. 15 – EASTER CHOIR
I have been asked to lead the Holy Week choir this year and I am very much looking forward to this!
Right up front, I must say that it is by times more difficult to get participants for the “Easter Choir” than it is for the “Christmas Choir”. From the start, let’s clarify one thing – the “Easter Choir” actually presents on Easter (April 05) but also on Palm Sunday (March 29). This latter service has perhaps more complicated music than the Easter service so if you can only do the Palm Sunday service, it would still be very helpful for you to join in exclusively for this particular service.
Who can participate?
If you have sung in the choir anytime before, please consider joining again. If you have never sung in the choir but you can sing and you’d like to give it a try, please be in touch with me and let’s figure out if this can work!
The commitment for this choir involves less time than the Christmas choir, so it could be a great entry point to just try out the choir! We do have a lot of fun – even in rehearsals believe it or not…
Here is the full rehearsal schedule (only 5 rehearsals in total – 4 of which happen right after church)
Feb 15 – noon to 12:45 – collect music – get things going – send out rehearsal tracks
Feb 22 – NO REHEARSAL – CMP annual meeting #1
Mar 01 – noon to 12:45 – right after church
Mar 08 – noon to 12:45 – right after church
Mar 15 – NO REHEARSAL – CMP annual meeting #2
Mar 22 – noon to 12:45 – right after church
Mar 28 – SATURDAY REHEARSAL – 9AM to noon
And then the two presentation dates:
Palm Sunday – March 29
Easter Sunday – April 05
Some people have already signed up. There is still room in every section for more – most particularly the Bass and Tenor sections but we have space in all groups.
Please let me know if you can join in by contacting me by email:
And again, if you just want to talk over with me whether I think you can actually do this (like if you’ve never sung in a choir but might want to give it a go), please be in touch and let’s talk it through and find out if it could work for you!
Thank you for considering this.
I hope we can make some beautiful and meaningful music together this Easter Season.
WED. FEB.18 – ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Join us at 7pm in the church for this traditional service to start the season of Lent (including the imposition of ashes).
SAT. FEB. 21 – JYC WINTER CAMP DAY
Dear JYC/YL families, Happy New Year!
We are writing to invite your children to our annual Junior Youth Camp Winter Camp Day 2025! From 10AM-3PM.
We would love to see your children there! Parents of Young Leaders, we need your teenagers to come help us out for WCD. Please see attached poster for details.
For more information, contact Di Keener: children@stmarkstpeter.org
We look forward to the new camp memories in 2026!

SUN. FEB. 22 – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM): Part 1
Our AGM is an important annual event in making ministry, mission, and life happen at CMP. Please join us (including newer members) after the service. This year the meeting has to occur in two parts. This first part will receive reports and appoint/elect people to various ministry roles. Because of John Slyfield’s hospitalization in December, we have been late getting year-end financials finalized, thus this first meeting will then be adjourned to address the financial matters at a follow-up meeting on Sun. Mar.15 (see below). A light lunch will be served. (The second part on Mar15 will also include the election to the Search Committee.)
SAT. FEB. 28 – THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR
It’s cold out there, and lots of people are homeless. On February 28 at 4:30 p.m., together with thousands of Canadians across the country, a team from CMP will be walking and fundraising to support homelessness organisations across Canada, and the CMP team will be fundraising for Logifem, helping women and children take the next step on their path to independence and autonomy. Please click on this link to join our CMP walking team or to donate to our team goal: https://cnoy.with.me/CMP
FRI. MARCH 6 – YOUTH TRAVELLING SUPPER – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The traveling supper is a great way for the youth to engage with members of the CMP Community that they don’t always connect with. We come to your home, enjoy a sampling of the food you make, and we get to know you in your space.
We are asking looking for people to host the Youth (20-30 people) in their home for one course of a meal. Appetizers, Salad/Soup, Main and Dessert. You would be responsible for feeding 20-30 people the course of your choice. It does not need to be a substantial portion; the point is to sample something that you would make for your family and to get to meet you in your space. We will only be in your home for roughly 30mins before we head off to the next course.
If you are at all interested in this or want more info please contact Mark – youth@stmarkstpeter.org.
MON.MAR. 9 – Pre-AGM FINANCES & BUDGET MEETING
For those interested in a deep dive into both our 2025 financial statements and our 2026 proposed budget, please join us at 8pm: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82827101813
The Financial statements will be included with the previous Pulse.
SUN.MAR. 15 – AGM Part 2, including SEARCH COMMITTEE ELECTION
After the morning service, the AGM will be re-convened. The three items of business will be: 1) Review of 2025 financials; 2) Review and approval of 2026 Budget; 3) Election of the Search Committee, to search for Chris’s successor.
Palm Sunday/Easter Choir
SEARCH COMMITTEE ELECTION PROCESS
The members of the Search Committee to replace Chris Barrigar will be elected at the meeting of Mar.15. Details of the nomination and voting processes are attached to this edition of the Pulse. We ask that all CMP members please read this document to familiarize themselves with their role in the process.
WEDNESDAYS KNITTING TOGETHER
“Ladies, you’re warmly invited to join us every Wednesday for a special time of fellowship and creativity. On the first and third weeks of each month, women gather for Knitting Together, and on the second and fourth weeks, we host Art Night. These women-only gatherings are a welcoming space for newcomers, filled with hospitality, friendship, and a shared desire to show the love of Christ. For any questions, please contact Fatima at 514-969-3292. 💕 ”
CREATION CARE DURING EPIPHANY
During this season, we will be reflecting on the journey of the Wise Men and our own relationships with the land and the journeys we have each taken. We are collecting materials for the art project we’ll be working on in the parish hall. If you have any of the following please bring them on Sunday: 12×12” scrapbook paper (any colour), magazines (especially with nature scenes). For more information, contact Julia Smith-Brake.
THREE UPCOMING FAITH & SCIENCE EVENTS
Please see the attached document for upcoming Faith & Science events. For more information, contact Joseph Vybihal. Feel free to invite others, and to circulate this information to others who might be interested.
CHRIS’S LATEST WRITING
A year ago, Chris Barrigar began sharing with CMP his writing and videos on the theme of “Reflections on Culture, Scripture, and Ethics for a 21st Century Church.” His latest writing in this series, on sexuality, is attached to this edition of the Pulse. There will be two Zoom discussions (8pm): Mon., March 2, (“Introduction and Principles of Biblical interpretation for issues in sexuality”); and Mon., May 4 (“Same-sex marriage”). If after reading the material you are interested in participating, contact Chris the week before each meeting for the Zoom link: chris@stmarkstpeter.org.
