FINANCIAL UPDATE 🙁

Givings for the first five months of this year are $10,586 behind budget. This is a considerable amount! At our AGM we collectively approved a 9% increase in our budget, so we would be grateful if members could help us reverse this situation. Thanks very much!

SAT JUNE 28 – “ACCOMPANYING THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING”

This event is postponed until the Fall.

SAT JULY 12 – ASTRONOMY EVENT

Join us at the home of Joseph Vybihal for this event. Dr Yayaati Chachan will be with us to talk about his astronomical current research, and Joseph will give us a chance to look through his super-duper space telescope. Time TBA. For address, contact Joseph: jvybihal@hotmail.com.

SUN JULY 20 – PARISH PICNIC

Following the success of this event the last couple years, on this Sunday we will replace after-service refreshments with a parish picnic in the park behind St Laurent City Hall (a five-minute walk from CMP). Bring your own lunch (though hotdogs will also be provided), and bring activities if you wish (frisbee, whatever). Invite others if you wish, for this fun time of hanging out together on a sunny (hopefully!!) afternoon.

SUMMER VIDEOS

In September, Chris will release his writing on “Christian Ethics for a 21st Century Church,” especially in our context of the hyper-individualist values that underlie so much of Western culture today. Thinking Christianly about how to live in our society requires some deeper understanding of what this hyper-individualism looks like (especially through consumer choice and sexual choice), and how we got here historically. If you have not yet watched or listened to Chris’s six-part video series explaining all this, then this summer will be a good time to catch-up! (The six videos are 15-20 minutes each.) These will set the stage for Chris’s new writings this coming Fall. Then in the new year he will turn to themes associated with human sexuality. The videos are found at: https://stmarkstpeter.org/index.php/other-media/
